Join us for the Laudato Si Environmental Science Speaker Series: Applying Environmental Knowledge in Different Disciplines: An Alumni Panel Discussion. This panel brings together St. Mary’s University alumni who are applying environmental science across diverse industries, from infrastructure and safety to water systems and research quality. Hear how their academic foundations have shaped their careers and how they are driving impact in sustainability, compliance and environmental stewardship.

 

Speaker Bios

 

Gerardo Nino Pozos, ASP, OHST, STSC
Safety Manager, William Charles Construction
Gerardo Nino Pozos is a St. Mary’s University graduate (B.S. Environmental Science, 2021) with experience in health and safety across industries including Amazon, Faith Technologies, Blattner Energy and William Charles Construction. He currently serves as a Safety Manager, supporting infrastructure development projects across Arizona and Nevada, including traffic signal systems, underground utilities and roadway safety technologies. Gerardo plays a key role in promoting safety culture and implementing health and safety programs. He is also pursuing a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management at the University of Denver.

 

Clarissa M. Gray, M.S.
Senior Quality Scientist, Southwest Research Institute
Clarissa M. Gray is a Senior Quality Scientist specializing in quality systems, compliance and audit readiness in highly regulated research environments. She holds a Master of Science in Engineering Systems Management (2016) and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science (2013) from St. Mary’s University. Clarissa is a Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 14001, AS9100 and NQA-1, with additional certifications in ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 13485 and CMMI v3.0. She brings a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, reading, exploring new restaurants and spending time with her family.

 

David Arambula
Environmental Protection Specialist III, San Antonio Water System
David Arambula is an Environmental Protection Specialist III at the San Antonio Water System, where he focuses on regulatory water programs and compliance. He has been with SAWS for over two years. David earned his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from St. Mary’s University and a Master’s in Water Resources Science and Technology from Texas A&M–San Antonio. He also serves in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

 

Open to all majors, faculty and staff. Registration on Handshake is encouraged but not required for students.
