About this Event
One Camino Santa Maria, San Antonio, TX 78228, USA
Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center (AA&CC)*
*This building will be off limits during the training, due to safety concerns. Barricades and signage will be posted at all entrances. If you need to enter, please notify UPD prior to your arrival.
This training is a critical component in preparing our officers and first responders to effectively respond to high-risk situations and ensure public safety. These exercises play a vital role by helping simulate real-world conditions, allowing our UPD team to train in a realistic and dynamic environment.
You may observe or hear officers in protective gear carrying emergency equipment or exposed firearms. You may see volunteers lying on the ground in the role of injured individuals. You may hear loud noises, including gunshots, banging and yelling. Again, these are scenario exercises and not real events.
UPD follows the nationally recognized A.L.E.R.R.T. program, which was created in 2002 as a partnership between Texas State University, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the San Marcos Police Department, and has since been adopted by the Texas Governor – Criminal Justice Division, U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI. UPD has been successfully trained in A.L.E.R.R.T. since 2010.
