The St. Mary’s University School of Law is excited to announce the Linda and Dave Schlueter First-Year Oral Argument Competition on Saturday, April 11, on campus. This competition allows St. Mary’s Law first-year J.D. students to practice their advocacy skills by arguing both sides of a summary judgment motion. This year’s summary judgment motion focuses on the dischargeability of student loan debt.

The St. Mary’s Law Legal Research and Writing Program, together with the Board of Advocates, would like to invite law alumni to share in this experience by serving as a judge for one or more of the competition rounds. Your investment ensures that first-year J.D. students receive substantive feedback and practical guidance as they develop their advocacy skills. Your practical knowledge and experience is invaluable to developing future advocates.
